What we collect

• Email address — for authentication and account recovery
• Display name, age, gender — for your profile and matching
• Self-description phrases — for matching with nearby people
• Approximate location — street-level accuracy (~11m) for proximity matching. We never store or share your exact coordinates
• Messages and posts — for the core chat and matching experience
• Voice and audio — voice messages and walkie-talkie recordings, stored temporarily

How we use your data

• Resonance — your posts and profile are used to find people nearby who resonate with you
• Distance bands— we show other users approximate distance (“Nearby”, “Across town”), never your actual location
• Moderation — content is reviewed for safety using automated systems
• Communication — we may send you emails for authentication codes and important updates

What we don't do

• We don't sell your data to third parties
• We don't show ads
• We don't share your exact location with other users
• We don't use your data for purposes other than operating Resonate

Location privacy

We store your location at street-level precision (approximately 11 meters). This is accurate enough for proximity resonance but not precise enough to identify a specific building. Your raw coordinates never leave our servers — other users only see distance bands like “Very close” or “Nearby.”

Ephemeral data

Some content is designed to disappear. Walkie-talkie messages are automatically deleted after a set period. Connections that are not locked will fade after 48 hours. Posts expire after 48 hours. We do not retain ephemeral content beyond its designated lifetime.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored on secure servers. Audio files are stored in encrypted object storage with time-limited access URLs — they are never publicly accessible. We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections, authentication, and access controls.

Your rights

• Access — you can view your data in the app at any time
• Correction — you can edit your profile information
• Deletion — you can request full account deletion
• Portability — you can request an export of your data

Third-party services

We use trusted third-party services for essential functionality including email delivery, payment processing, content moderation, and analytics. These services only receive the minimum data needed to perform their function. We do not sell your data to any third party.

Changes

We may update this policy. We'll notify you of significant changes via in-app announcement. Continued use means acceptance.
